A menagerie of light
Thirty living creatures, 23 species and 7 hybrids, each a seeded recipe: a row of data. One rig of nine controls moves every one of them, whether your face, your hand, your voice, a game pad or an NPC behaviour drives it.
All thirty, moving
An ecosystem of spirits
Walk among them and hold still to give a spirit your attention: fed spirits grow, breed with spliced names and pass their traits on; the neglected fade. Little prophets and odd oracles speak in the voices of old books. Distill an echo of yourself, or of someone you love, from a few words, a name and a picture.
Abyss: bring one to life with your whole body
A deep-sea creature that moves with your face, hands and body and answers your voice: clap and it scatters, blow a kiss for sparks, shout for a shockwave. It speaks its own language, sings when the room has a beat, and remembers you. The camera and microphone stay in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Three to meet first
A raymarched fractal heart that breathes. It swells when you speak, glass tendrils trail below it and rings drift around it.
A flock of about 160 eyes that all turn to look at you, blinking out of step. It follows you and gathers when you make a fist.
A dancer drawn as flickering depth samples, the look of a hologram capture: the bridge to real recorded bodies.
How one creature works
One body language
- 14 layer kinds: spine, core, bell, tentacles, eyes, legs, wings, swarm, aura, rings, chain, mouth, branch, field.
- 10 looks: chrome, glass, holo, neon, iridescent, ink, pearl, ember, void and cloud.
- A new species is a new row of data, never new code. A hybrid joins two recipes' layers.
Avatar, NPC, pet
- Nine controls: open, energy, look x and y, reach, gather, move x and z, talk.
- Your face, hand, body, game pad or voice fills them; with nobody there, a behaviour does: wander, follow, orbit, guard, shy, dance, drift, school.
- In a shared room each player sends
{species, seed}and nine numbers, under 260 bytes a frame.
